By the time you read this we will have said goodbye to Rachel Donnelly and welcomed Jo Harvey in her place.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Rachel for all she did on behalf of the Trust in the fifteen months
she was with us and to say that we look forward to working with Jo.
We have to thank Philip Miles and his Festival Committee for yet another successful event. We are delighted
that the proceeds of the Raffle, just over £2000, are being donated to the Trust and we can assure you that it
will be put to good use. We are hoping that we now have enough in the kitty (adding on to the proceeds of the
Christmas Lights Raffle) to install fencing around the 5-a-side pitch. This will allow the area to be used for ball
games safe in the knowledge that the ball will be contained in the immediate area!
Our AGM was held in July and we reported to the Trustees that the Trust had made a small loss in the past
financial year due to a number of factors. However, it was agreed that this year it was acceptable as there
had been over £14,000 of necessary repairs and maintenance undertaken. The building is now in a good
state but the Trustees are aware that some roof repairs will need to be done in the not too distant future. We
are also looking at installing wifi throughout the building which will make it more user-friendly when trying to
attract events such as conferences and training days.
The Village Hall and the playing fields are a great community asset – please get in touch with us if you would
like to be involved as a Trustee or as a volunteer.

Tuesday, September 2nd, 7.30pm sees the start of our autumn program. New members
and visitors are always welcome.
We start with 'Christine's Surprise' when Christine Hickey will spill some of her gardening
success secrets into our laps. How does she do so well with her allotment and beautiful
garden? Come and find out.
The evenings competition is for a Garden Ornament so dust off those gnomes! There will be
a Bring & Buy stall for things beginning with 'W'.
In October we will be advised on 'A safer way to drive' which might help us survive on our roundabout! We will
also have our Annual Meal in October.
On Wednesday, October 8th, 10 am-12 in the Scout Hut, we are going to hold a coffee morning to enable Buck-
den to buy a Shelter Box to send to people in distress. A very worthwhile cause. Come and have tea and cake
and see what it's all about.
Also, in October, 20th - 24th, we are going on Holiday to Warners in Wales. If you would like to come I may be
able to squeeze you in.
November is a time to get creative and have a go at decorating a plate and in December we have a very sociable
'Fish & Chip' Supper when we choose our new committee and president.
There is lots to enjoy. We have 69 members and are very active - so why not join us?
Why not come on our outing to Darwin's House in Kent on 17th Sept. a few seats left. Men welcome.
We are also collecting knitted clown hand puppets for Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes - the pattern can be
found at
