Buckden Local History Society

October Meeting

Wednesday 4th October at 7.30pm

Claret Centre, Buckden Towers

FenArch – the Fenland Archaeological Society was formed

after the highly successful Community Archaeology excava-

tion at Wisbech Castle during September 2009. FenArch

(formerly known as the Wisbech and District Archaeological

Society) sought to build on the enthusiasm and interest gen-

erated by the dig to provide further opportunities for partici-

pation in Community Archaeology across Fenland.

Bob Smith is the new secretary of FenArch, and will give us

an overview of all their activities as well as bringing along

some of their roman finds and digs they have been involved

in. The talk will include their involvement in the lottery fund-

ed high street project, which has included a lot of original

research into the tunnels that run under the centre of the

town.
