The 2014 Poppy Appeal
will begin on 26th October
with Remembrance Sun-
day on 9th November.
My grateful thanks, as al-
ways, go to the volun-
teers, collecting box hold-
ers and donors who so
generously give their sup-
port to the Appeal. If any-
one can spare any time to help in any way Veronica
Hunstone (810070) would be pleased to hear from
you.
The Legion has been warned about some bogus
door-to-door fundraisers. The team call themselves
‘Holding Hands’ supposedly connected to SSAFA.
The have fake IDs, compelling scripts and claim to
be Afghanistan veterans based in Cleveland. They
are selling household goods. Any approach by any-
one engaged in suspicious fundraising activity
should be reported to the police straight away.
Our RBL collectors are dedicated, trusted and well-
known to Buckden households. They have official
ID cards and the collecting box carries the above
mentioned telephone number for any queries.
All Poppy boxes contain either Gift Aid envelopes or
slips (any amount can be Gift Aided) and if properly
completed can boost the donation by 25%
