We welcomed Jo Harvey, who lives in the village, as our new Village Hall Administrator in September and the
Trustees look forward to working with her. Jo’s working hours are 9 a.m. – 2 p.m , Monday to Friday and her
email address remains the same: admin@buckdenvillagehall.co.uk If you have any queries or wish to discuss
a potential booking (or have an idea for a fundraising event) please do not hesitate to get in touch with her by
email or give her a call on 01480-811101. On our website , http://www.buckdenvillagehall.co.uk/ you are
able to view photographs from past events and can look at the calendar to see what is coming in the next few
months.
August, as is normal, was a quiet month for bookings, however September was busier with a couple of wed-
ding receptions and parties and if you are thinking of a venue for a party, wedding reception, christening party
or children’s party then do give Jo a call. Buckden residents receive a discounted price.
During the six week gap before Jo’s appointment the Trust Chairman and Treasurer managed the building on
a part time basis. Their thanks are due to Elaine Edwards, our cleaner, and John McConnell, our caretaker –
their help was invaluable.

Did You Know….?
The site of the Shell Garage on the Roundabout was
once called Robinson’s Garage. The founder and owner,
Arthur Robinson, claimed that his garage was the site of
the first bulk petrol storage in the county - hence being
known as “ The Garage with Two Pumps” - as can be
seen in this advert from the cover of a road map pro-
duced early in the 20th Century
