September was all about new beginnings as we wel-

comed our new starters and their families and carers

too. Preschool hasn’t floated away on an ocean of tears

yet, so they must be settling well (the children are fine

too!). Staff members have begun new online learning

journals for the children, and children who are in their

last year with us have started their literacy sessions in

the library.

After the excitement of learning about shapes, harvest

and Sukkot, and gathering leaves on our autumn walk,

we are now looking forward to Halloween craft activities

and moving on to learn all about colours. Our Hallow-

een party is always a hugely successful and fun-filled

event, open to children of all ages when accompanied

by an adult, so please come along and join in the fun on

the 30

th

October – full details are in our advert.

If anyone has large wooden cable drums to spare, we

would be very grateful for the donation of a few. Miss

Denise has plans for them!

We still have vacancies at preschool, so if you are inter-

ested in a place for your child please visit

for more information and

ring us on 07941 671999 to book a visit or talk to our

Manager, Michelle Nelson. Our Chairman, Alan Scott,

can be contacted on 07745274921, and

BUCKDEN CHURCH OF

ENGLAND SCHOOL

(Primary Academy Trust)

September 2015

Well, we return this year with some fantastic news! We

received an Ofsted inspection in July and I am so proud

to be able to announce we are an Ofsted rated OUT-

STANDING Primary Academy.

“School leaders and governors have the highest aspira-

tions for, pupils. These have resulted in exceptionally

rapid improvements.”

Ofsted report July 2015

This has been a huge team achievement – well done

everybody. All our staff, children and governing body

have worked so hard over the last 5 years to become

Ofsted ‘Outstanding’. This has not always been an easy

journey but the commitment, loyalty and determination

shown by all has been tremendous.

Our children’s results speak for themselves. The last

two years we have exceeded all national bench marks

which has placed us in the top 5% of primary schools

nationally. This year’s results, when released in Novem-

ber, will likely place us in the TOP 5 primary schools in

Cambridgeshire.

“The curriculum is rich and provides opportunities for all

pupils to achieve high academic standards.”

Ofsted report July 2015

First and foremost this is confirmation of the amazing

environment and education our children receive at Buck-

den but this is also a wonderful achievement for the wid-

er community.

This outcome will have a positive impact for years to

come not just on the desirability of the village but the

citizens we are producing who live will here.

“The school’s aim to develop the whole child academi-

cally and spiritually is successfully linked to promoting

British values of tolerance, democracy and respect.”

Ofsted report July 2015

As I close I would just like to welcome all our new chil-

dren and families and we are looking forward to a won-

derful school year building on our success. I would en-

courage you to read the full report which you can find at
