DO YOU WANT TO BE A PROBIAN?
Don’t know what a Probian is? Neither did I when I was invited to join a few years ago, but its not illegal or immoral but it could
make you put on a pound or two!
Probus Clubs are now world wide and were formed for retired and semi-retired business or professional people, starting with
the first one in 1965 for men only. Now there are over 2000 clubs around the globe, some all male, some all female and some
mixed. Each club decides its own policy on membership and meeting format and we are all about friendship and enjoyable com-
pany
Our club is Brampton & Buckden Probus Club. We meet and have lunch together on the 3rd Wednesday of every month, with
some 40 to 45 members sitting down to enjoy the meal, some laughter and some topical talk. A couple of times each year we
also have speakers after lunch who entertain us with talks on subjects that members have indicated they would like to know
more about.
We also have Ladies Lunches during August and at Christmas when we entertain the ladies in our lives and we have the occa-
sional day out - next month we are off to the theatre! Our club in particular does very well in golf matches against other Probus
clubs and districts!
You don’t have to live in Brampton or Buckden to join us. The club was originally formed some 20+ years ago by men from these
villages, but many members today live in other places and are members of other Probus clubs too.
If you would like to know more about being a Probian, ring me on 01480 451450. Or you can search the internet for more gen-
eral information on the history and locations of Probus clubs.
