Children’s Craft Activity

Our regular monthly craft activity will be on Saturday 2

nd

June; come along and join us in celebrating Elmer day with a

fun, colourful, elephant themed craft.

Engage in the Afternoon - Nursing in the First World War

Join Barry Jobling, chair of Buckden Local History Society and

military historian for an informative talk on Nursing in the

First World War. Follow a wounded soldier’s journey from

No Man’s Land to hospital in Blighty. There will also be an

opportunity to see many original artefacts and photographs.

June 20th @ 2pm. Please book your place at the library.

Storytime

Come along to our storytime

for pre-school children, listen to

some stories and sing some rhymes. Storytime starts at

2.15pm and in June will be on Tuesday 5

Knit Lit

Do you enjoy knitting and a good book? Our friendly group

meets on alternate Fridays. In June our Knit Lit meetings are

on Friday 8

and 22

from 8pm. Knitters of all ages and abili-

ties welcome!

Games Afternoon for Adults

Do you enjoy playing scrabble? Come along to our weekly

games afternoon to play a selection of games. Every Thursday

afternoon from 2 – 4pm.

Summer Reading Challenge - teenage volunteers required

Would you like to take part in our Summer Reading Challenge

Volunteering Programme this summer? We’re looking for

volunteers aged 12 – 18 to help with the Summer Reading

Challenge. You will be encouraging young children to tell you

about the books they have read and hand out stickers and

rewards. You may also help with craft activities and events.

This is a great opportunity to learn new skills and have fun in

the library.

A14 upgrade

After the recent closure of the A1 Northbound from Buckden

Roundabout, and the subsequent chaos it caused both in the

village and on the surrounding roads, it became apparent from

social media that residents felt there was not enough infor-

mation available regarding the impending closures and the

diversion routes.

Whilst there is little we can do to make this information more

widely know, and in particular to traffic users on the A1 in ad-

vance of their journey, there is information available that

could prove useful to people in the village and perhaps make

future closures less of a surprise!
