Friends inDeed
The last weekend in June sees the arrival of theVillageFete, hopefully youwill come and visit
theFriends inDeed BottleTombola, andeven better, takenhome aprize. Thank you to every-
onewhomadea donation. Please do come and “have a go.”
Youmayalso have taken theopportunity to speak toamember of our team and foundout a littlemoreabout
Friends inDeed.We are anorganisationwhich seeks to serve the people of Buckden inwhatever wayour talents
allow.Wemay visit, drive, bakea cake, doan errand, helpwith correspondence, read to someonewho has diffi-
cultywith the printedword. The support maybe long term or “one off,” andno-one is expected to do everything. If
you feel you couldmakea contribution, do speak toour Co-ordinator Christine Lawrence. Her number is below.
Oneof themost enjoyable thingswedo is tohost social events. On the firstWednesday of everymonth, we hold
a “Drop in for aCupof Teaand aChat” in theLivingStonesRoom inSt. Mary'sChurch from 2.30pm to4.00pm.

Here for the people of Buckden
We had a very interesting talk from 'Shelter Box' who brought a huge tent with them and the
contents of thebox that they dispatch todisaster areas round theworld. They inspired us so
much that in October we will be holding a coffee morning to try to raise enough money,
£560, to buya box to send fromBuckden. Look out for thedate.
In July we are off, on July 24th, 6pm, to tour the Chilli Farm at Roxton and have a Chilli
meal. A fantastic evening just £17 which includes a coach from Buckden. All are welcome
soplease letme know if youwant to comeASAP.
Our next meeting is on July 1st. It is our Summer Fun evening which will be in Buckden School Hall as usual.
Drinks and sconeswill be provided. Newmembers aremost welcome. Whynot give us a try.
The competition is a challenge to bring 'Something YouCouldn't LiveWithout'. Not a human, so I will leave Brian
at home!!!
The stall is for things beginning with N, perhaps new but unwanted, mistaken buys or something Naughty but
Nice.
Wedonot meet inAugust.
I need to know if you want to come to Kent on the 17th of September to visit a couple of EnglishHeritage proper-
ties, Charles Darwin's home and Lullingstone Villa. £20 for coach. This will be a long day and we will set off at

Thank you to all those who sent clothes and toiletries to Bosnia. As usual the response formWI members was
fantastic.
Lets pull out all the stops to support our Village Festival. It will be a great day for children and adults if we all join
in.
