It’s almost that time of year again – Scout Christmas Post

It is a tradition for the 1

st

Southoe and Buckden Scouts to collect and deliver Christmas cards within the village in return for a

donation for the service. Christmas Cards together with donations can be posted at clearly marked boxes in Days, One Stop and

Buckden Village Store. On the last Friday of the school term the cards are sorted and delivered by the Scouts on the following

Saturday.

The 1

st

Southoe and Buckden Scouts are an energetic group catering for boys and girls from Beavers (6 years) through Cubs,

Scouts and Explorers (18 years). The young adults then have the opportunity to become Young Leaders and help out at the vari-

ous sections.

The Scouting group follows a varied programme all aimed at developing life skills and are an active part of the local community.

Money raised from the Scout Christmas Post and other fundraising activities goes towards providing equipment and facilities for

the Scout Group.

We are always looking for adults to get involved, if you are interested and can spare some time please contact Aidan Joy on

01480 810347.

I am running the '12 Days of Christmas Giving' again this year as it was such a success last year!

Most of us look forward to Christmas but for some it can be a very difficult time. I thought that our village could again show

support to some of those people in our own local community who may be struggling.

Godmanchester Foodbank operate all through out the year supporting people in Huntingdon, with food and other assistance,

that are referred to them.

Christmas can be a particularly demanding time, which is where we come in! I am asking that you fill a small box or large bag

with at least 12 items of non perishable foods, such as tins, packets, rice, pasta, etc. As your donated items will help towards

making up Christmas Hampers for people you could also include some kind of Christmas chocolate or biscuits, such as a Choco-

late Orange or children's selection box, as this will make all the difference to some people who just can't afford those luxuries.

The Foodbank said the children loved the sweets and chocolate they got last year.

I will need your donations by the 9th December, at the latest, so that I can then get them to Godmanchester Foodbank for them

to make up the hampers and distribute them in time for Christmas.

Please contact me if you require further details.
