VILLAGE NEWS
We had a very interesting talk about dressing
elephants for parades at our October meet-
ing.
Next Month, on the 5th November, we are
being treated to a slide show about
Alaska. This will be a real pleasure as we
have had slide shows from Geoff Evans be-
fore and he has amazing photos.
The competition is for your own Winter Photo
and the bring and buy stall is loosely based
on things starting with 'N' e.g.. Nick Nacks!
Please bring £1 to secure your fish and chip
supper for our December meeting. Guests
are welcome to join us for fish and chips but
they will have to pay £4. This is our time for
voting in the committee for next year, my last
as President (If you vote me in). Please vol-
unteer to be on the committee. The more we
have on the committee the less we all have to
do. New members will be gladly snapped up!
Patricia Ford will be kindly standing in for me
at the November meeting so please support
her.
If you fancy baking then we are running a
Mince Pie stall again at the switching on of
the Buckden Lights on December 1st, so
please pop some in the freezer.
The last of the knitted Jumpers have been
sent to Lusaka. We have sent 1500 little
jumpers and hats off to needy babies around
the world so many thanks to all who knitted
for us.
Still a few places left for our holiday in Derby-
shire, May 12th 2014. Brian & I went to visit
the hotel and it is beautiful set in lovely gar-
dens and full of history.
The coach for November 4th Holiday to
Warners on the Isle of Wight will leave the
Scout hut at 9am, will then pick up at the
Methodist Church and the at Buckden Marina
at about 9.10.

fun range or events to be of interest to all
ages.

FRIENDS OF BUCKDEN TOWERS
Even though space is limited I must note
FOBT's debt to Tony Gilchrist. His many years
on the committee were a rock on which it re-
lied. He will be much missed.
Heritage Day was very successful despite the
weather. Numbers were of course down, but
we raised almost as much as last year, thanks
largely to the produce stalls doing very well.
My thanks to all those who helped.
The Friends refectory is in need of refurbish-
ment and Mike Allwright is now investigating
the cost of re-equipping it, including the
kitchen, and redecorating.
We are planning a full programme of activities
next year including the ever popular quiz night
in March, Plant Sale and coffee morning. We
are also looking at other activities particularly
for families. I will be reporting in more detail
after the next committee meeting.
John Thelwall, Chair.
