As I write this, we are in the middle of our two-week
Easter break. You may think Preschool has been a qui-
et, peaceful place for those two weeks, but quite the
reverse! A lot of reorganising and decluttering has
gone on in preparation for both the new term and our
Jumble and Table Top Sale – please see our advert in
this month’s Roundabout for full details.
The children finished off the spring term by taking part
in Easter and Passover activities, producing some
beautiful works of art and playing Easter egg bingo,
which helped them hone their observational skills and
colour recognition. They also enjoyed wearing odd
socks, brightly coloured socks, any funky socks in aid
of World Down Syndrome Day’s #lotsofsocks, raising
over £77 for Big Journeys Begin with Small Steps.
As the new term starts, hopefully so will the better
weather. This will mean we can go for more walks in
the local countryside without, as Miss Sam says, being
like Peppa Pig and jumping in muddy puddles! The
children will also be learning about growth and change
by watching plants grow, including growing their own
beans and learning about roots and shoots.
Summer term starts with lots of changes. Not only will
our rooms look a little different when the children
come back, so will the staff. Our lovely Miss Denise has
decided to step down from the Manager post and take
on a new 1:1 role, as well as returning to her Deputy
Manager role.
We welcome Samantha Sinclair as our new manager.
She has over 14 years’ experience in managing nurse-
ries and preschools. For the last 18 months, she has
been managing Wheathampstead Playgroup in
Hertfordshire, which was recently awarded an Out-
standing grade by Ofsted. This means we now have
three Sams on the team, so please specify a surname
when contacting us!
We also (belatedly) welcome (back) Cori Stanford-Lees
to the team, who is providing a much-appreciated ex-
tra pair of hands! Finally, our Chairperson, Tizzy Pape,
is now on maternity leave and Danika Stevenson is
now Acting Chair.
