Bookings

This month we have the St Mary’s Charity Auction (4th March), a Jivenites Weekender, two private evening functions and

the Gardener’s Spring Show (25th March) amongst our regular hirers.

Planning Inquiry

The Trust is pleased to confirm that the Lucks Lane planning application inquiry will be held in the Village Hall which means

it will be easily accessible for everyone. It is due to start on Tuesday 16th May.

Dog Fouling on the Playing Field

Last month we highlighted the problem of dog fouling on the playing field. We make no apology for doing so again. The

field is used by junior and adult football teams and in summer by the cricketers. Local children also

play on it constantly. Dog mess can cause Toxocariasis which is a nasty disease, particularly affecting

children, and can have long term effects. The footballers have to inspect the pitches every time they

play and remove the mess.

No-one wants to infect children with diseases, so please pick up your dog’s poo and dispose of it

properly – not by throwing the bag in the bushes as some do.

Buckden Recreation Ground and Village Hall Trust Constitution

The original constitution is currently being updated. If representatives from the organisations originally mentioned in the

1969 constitution could please email me that would be most appreciated.

Don’t forget that as residents of Buckden you all receive discounted rates on Hall hire. Please call or email me if you

would like to find out more information.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH

SAVE THOUSANDS BY BEING ALERT

Buckden residents saved themselves thousands of pounds by being alert after receiving a phone call and later a letter informing

them they had won a prize.

It was a scam! They received a phone call and were told they had won £350,000. To collect the prize there would be a charge of

1 % for insurance - to cover the money whilst being posted to the residents address, and a 5% extra charge for an agents fee.

The next question was; YOUR BANK DETAILS PLEASE.

The phone call and letter were a scam. You can tell by checking phone numbers and addresses. Do not give any bank details

away; end the telephone call; check details - did you have a ticket from this company? If you can, check the address and tele-

phone number on the website. Any doubts, call the fraud line on 0300 123 2040

HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF

Never disclose security details such as your PIN or full banking password

Don’t assume an email, text or phone call is authentic

Don’t be rushed – a genuine organisation won’t mind waiting

Listen to your instincts - you know if something doesn’t feel right

Stay in control - don’t panic and make a decision you’ll regret

The Crime Survey of England and Wales says fraud and cybercrime now account for close to half of all crimes, making you much

more likely to be victim of these crimes than any other.
