POETRY CORNER

Hello Buckden. Welcome to your very own Poetry Corner. The Roundabout is looking for submissions of

poems of no more than 30 lines from all and every resident of Buckden. We would especially like the

school children to participate. So get writing those masterpieces and the Editorial team will try to publish

two or more of the best poems every month. To start us off, Peter Keable has written the poem

'Sometimes' about getting older.

Sometimes everything stops, the sounds are all there

But the mind is bare

Of original thought.

Caught!

In a trap of uncertainty, not feeling right.

Though the short future beckons bright,

The past holds like rock.

Shock!

At that time of life where success has drifted away

And every outing races a day

Toward that graven night.

Tight!

The hold that life grips as the grandchildren fun-run

Around me, jostling with pain old joints shun,

Laughing with life's new rhymes.

Sometimes.
