BUCKDEN WI
44 members and 3 visitors enjoyed a
very lively and entertaining talk from
Richard Todd, head gardener at An-
glesey Abbey about his work and
some of the ‘behind the scenes’ sto-
ries. His talk was illustrated by glorious slides of the
planting and the changes in the gardens over time and
through the seasons.
Our next meeting will be on the 2
nd
June and the
speaker will be Rex Freeman whose subject, rather
enticingly will be ‘Growing Old Disgracefully’. Compe-
tition will be for ‘Something Purple’ and the market stall
will be ‘In the Pink’.

A successful driver training course run by Care Network at the end of April was well attended. It
was a very interesting afternoon, emphasising a driver’s responsibilities and important points for

Brian and I were overwhelmed by the support from
the village to our quickly arranged coffee morning in
the scout hut on May 6th. Many WI friends came to
help. Lots of people brought cakes to share and
then bought cakes to take home. The Bring & Buy
was hugely popular and we had a wonderful raffle.
We collected £1191. Amazing. Thank you to all who
contributed. The money has gone staight to needy
people in Nepal. Well done everyone. We have a
fantastic village. Thank you all.
We will arrange another day’s outing soon. Keep an
eye on this space.
