Spring Flowers

The Huntingdonshire Local Group of the Wildlife Trust invites you to come and enjoy one of the highlights of the

English spring by joining in one of our spring flower walks at our local nature reserves.

As usual we will be visiting Brampton Wood where we hope to experience the delightful colour and scent of blue-

bells in this ancient woodland. We also hope to see flowers such as celandine, wood anemone and dogs mercury

plus some early butterflies. We are offering two walks – one on Sunday 23

rd

April at 10.30 am and the second on

Saturday 29

th

April at 2.30pm. Please meet at Brampton Wood Car Park, Grafham Road, Brampton. GR TL 184698.

We are also offering a walk at Portholme Meadow on Wednesday 26

th

April, at 7.00pm. Portholme is believed to be

the largest flood plain meadow in England and has a good-sized population of snakeshead fritillaries at this time of

year. Please meet at Godmanchester Lock at 7.00pm. Parking is in Godmanchester and the lock can be accessed via

the Chinese Bridge.

Everyone is most welcome to attend. There is no charge, but donations are welcome. For more information please

contact George on 01480 450809.

Cambridgeshire Police

In the past month we have seen an increase in criminal activity in the Buckden and Offord area which has included

four homes being burgled in just one evening whilst the owners were away.

We would love to be able to patrol the area day and night but sadly that is not possible and so we’re hoping you can

help us. Your eyes and ears are an important part of preventing crime and keeping our villages safe. We are urging

all residents to get in touch and report any suspicious activity to police. This can include anything from doorstep

sellers to behaviour that just doesn’t seem right. Any information, no matter how big or small, can be vital in help-

ing us complete our investigations. Dates, locations and descriptions are particularly helpful.

Our officers will be running drop in surgeries on the below dates to answer any questions on queries you may have.

It would be great to see you there.

Thursday 16th March: 2pm-3pm

Friday 7th April: 6pm-7pm

Tuesday 9th May: 11am-12pm

Thursday 29th June: 2pm-3pm

If you wish to discuss anything with me, and can’t attend the above, please feel free to email or call me on the de-

tails below.
