Summer Reading Challenge

The summer reading challenge has been very popu-

lar this year with over 70 children visiting Buckden

library regularly to take part in our weekly craft ac-

tivity and choose books to read over the summer.

The presentation ceremony for those who have

completed the challenge is on Friday 15

th

Septem-

ber at 5pm. We hope as many children as possible

will come along to collect their medal

and certificate.

Story Time

Our regular story time for pre-school children takes

place every Tuesday afternoon from 2.15 – 2.45pm.

Do come along for half an hour of stories and fun.

Engage in the Afternoon

The next Engage in the Afternoon, ‘The Reader of

Books; Roald Dahl’s Matilda’ is on Wednesday 20

th

September. Becky Morris who is completing a PhD

in English Literature will be talking about Matilda

and some of the Victorian and Edwardian novels she

reads. This is a free event; tickets are available from

the library.

The Reader of Books: Roald Dahl’s Matilda

Rebecca Morris is completing a PhD in English Literature, spe-

cialising in “The Girl Hero in 19th and 20th Century Children’s

Literature”. She will be talking about Matilda and some of the

Victorian and Edwardian novels she reads.

This is a free event - donations welcome.
