FRIENDS IN DEED
The Friends in Deed Summer Tea Party was held on the 2
nd
August at the Bowlings and we would like to
express our gratitude once again to Pam and Miles Falla who very kindly hosted the event. The weather
was not so kind and a last minute decision to hold the event indoors proved to be a wise one! Thirty-nine
people came along for tea and a variety of homemade cakes. Very many thanks to Brenda Steadman as the
main organiser and to all those members who provided cakes, gave lifts and helped out on the day, making it such an enjoyable
occasion.
The next Drop-in Café will be held on 13 September (and subsequently on the second Wednesday of each month) in the Living
Stones Room in St Mary’s Church, 2.30pm to 4pm. If you like homemade cakes, tea or coffee, and a friendly atmosphere, why
not come along and join us. All are welcome and transport is available within the village on request (see below).

BUCKDEN ROUNDABOUT WINS
AWARD
For the second year running the Buck-
den Roundabout has won the Bronze
award in the Cambridge Building Socie-
ty Community Magazine awards. The
Roundabout won bronze in the category
for “high-frequency” magazines (those with 10 to 12 issues
per year), the same category in which we won bronze last
year. Your Roundabout editorial team is determined to
improve the Roundabout and we have our eyes on a silver,
or even a gold award for 2018. We couldn’t do this without
the contributions from all our regular contributors, from
those who write occasional articles for us, and from those
who submit wonderful photographs for the front cover.
This award is for you too.
