School & Pre-School
A new term and a new school year is almost upon us and
we’re looking forward to welcoming new starters and their
families – and welcoming back our returning pre-schoolers
too.
We haven’t been idle over the summer! There are plans afoot
to restructure the space inside preschool and we once again
ran some very successful Stay and Play sessions throughout
the holidays. These sessions were great for allowing young
children (and their parents and carers) to socialise and have
fun – and cake! Thanks to all who came along.
There are always people to thank for their support, but this
month there are some especially big thanks. Firstly, a huge
thank you to Brampton Playgroup. Sadly, they were forced to
close recently and as a charity, had to dispose of their assets.
They chose to give us a cheque for £1800. This is amazingly
generous and we are very grateful.
We would also like to thank the organisers of Buckfest. Alt-
hough the Preschool wasn’t chosen as one of their selected
charities this year, they are kindly donating the cost of some
new tablets for Preschool, which we use to record the chil-
dren’s activities and learning. Of course, we must also thank
everyone who helped to run or supported our tombola stall at
Buckfest, which raised over £100.
Finally, we would like to thank all our departing committee
members, who have worked so hard. We have to welcome
our new committee members, including our new Chairperson,
Tizzy Pape.
Preschool re-opens on Monday 4
th
September and our new
opening hours are 9-3, Monday to Friday. This is to ensure we
are open for 30 hours a week, allowing parents and carers
eligible for 30 hours’ funding to use their full entitlement. We
still have places available at present.

Scattered shards of light passage a blankness
We have now discovered. The speeding Nebula
Cargo the genomes of our searching lives
Colliding the arrival of men and women.
Growing, cell by cell. Shaping, gene by gene. The jagged
Nova of men and women emerge from the brewing
Earth. Arterial blood pounded with the fire of lava
Brimming the breast to rise the power men seek.
A time of flesh, tangled in its desire as molten rivers
Wrestling rocks. Then, like continents, break.
These arms that hold you now, reach from those Vulcan
Times to this quiet embrace, the Cosmos of our love
Where we wait the Heralds call. A time of dust
Joins us to the riding thermals, becoming cosmic
Travellers seeking a distant planet, whose sun
Reflects our arrival and we kick-start again.
