FROM YOUR COUNTY COUNCILLOR

Have you checked when you concessionary bus pass runs out?

If your bus pass runs out you will be re-

fused free travel. The County Council have set up a quick and easy way to renew your bus pass online. Passes

can be renewed up to 6 weeks before their expiry date. Just go to

www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/concessionary

. If

you cant get your renewal done online then call the number printed on the back of your pass. Or please contact

me for further help and information.

Please be advised that residents can come along to the Buckden village hall on the second Tuesday of the month

at 6.30pm for an hour to speak to me. I will be in the Aragon room and no appointment is necessary. My next sur-

gery will be held on

Tuesday 13

th

September 2016

.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.

FROM YOUR DISTRICT COUNCILLOR

Electoral Register

All households will have been sent a form asking residents to check whether the information on the electoral reg-

ister is correct. Please complete these and return them to HDC. Reminders will be sent and if this fails canvassers

will call at households who have not responded.

Opportunities To Walk

Residents will be used to me singing the praises of our Rights of Way and I know that many take the opportunity

to use them if only to exercise the dog. If you are not confident about walking by yourself or would like a gentle

lead-in with the company of other walkers and a walk leader why not try one of the Huntingdonshire Health Walks.

Most months there is one starting from Buckden Village Hall. Contact 01480 387047 for details.

A14

Residents may have noticed preliminary work to the left of the road to Brampton. Construction work will start on

the widening of the A1 between Alconbury and Brampton Hut early in the new year.

A1

The Buckden roundabout continues to be the bane of our lives and I fear that there is very little that can be done

except to persuade drivers approaching it on the A1 to drive more slowly. I am currently trying to find a way to

have a filter onto the roundabout from Perry Road similar to that at the south end of High Street. Hopefully we

shall soon have some idea of what the proposed new route of the A1 may look like but there is little hope of a new

road until at the earliest 2025 – I hope to be around to see it!

Devolution

I hope that you have all taken the opportunity to make their views known by visiting the HDC web site and scroll

down to Consultations, or going to

There’s a new number to call if you have a power cut

When the power goes out, it can leave people feeling unsure about what to do. Research by En-

ergy Networks Association found that 72% of people don’t know who to contact during a power

cut, with many wrongly thinking they should call the electricity supplier they pay their bill to.

105 aims to solve this problem, providing you with an easy-to-remember number that will put you

through to your local electricity network operator - the company that manages the cables, wires

and substations that bring electricity into local homes and businesses.

In England, Scotland and Wales, there are six Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) that operate in different

geographical regions and several Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNOs) that operate across re-

gions. DNOs and IDNOs are each responsible for ensuring that homes and businesses have electricity 24 hours a

day, 365 days a year.

105 is just one of the ways you can contact your network operator. They can still be contacted directly by phone

on their 0800 number or via their website – and most can be reached through social media too.

105 is a free service for people in England, Scotland and Wales, and you can call the number from most landlines

and mobile phones. It doesn’t matter who you choose to buy your electricity from - anyone can call 105.

You can also call 105 if you spot damage to electricity power lines and substations that could put you, or someone

else, in danger. If there’s a serious immediate risk, call the emergency services too.

Don’t be left in the dark. Call 105. To find out more, visit powercut105.com
