Front Cover

This month’s cover shows what is believed to be a detach-

ment of the 1

st

Highland Brigade, Royal Field Artillery, which

was billeted in St Neots, pulling their gun carriages along

Church Street in Buckden, in autumn 1914 before they em-

barked for France, and was provided by Barry Jobling.

We are always looking for photos, images, drawings and

paintings to use on the front cover so please keep sending

them in. Please note that photos should ideally be in portrait

format and should be a

minimum

of 2400 x 1700 pixels.

More is better!

November 2018

Welcome to the November edition of Buckden Rounda-

bout. Halfway through compiling this edition of the

magazine, it felt like summer with a balmy 24 degrees

day (albeit with a bit of a breeze!). As I complete the

edition, it has certainly started to feel more like autumn!

Wet and windy does not really do it justice.

There are several events in the village in November

commemorating the 100th anniversary of the end of

WW1, as well as several articles in this edition. Please do

take the time to read them, and attend the events over

Remembrance weekend; there are events at other times

during the month as well. Details of the events can

mostly be found in the ‘For Your Diary’ section, but in

others places too.

Starting this month, we are giving the opportunity for

groups, organisation and facilities in the village the

chance to tell you what they do, when they meet, and

what you can do to participate or help out! We hope to

provide at least one per month, so if you are involved

with something happening in the village please do get in

touch and we can provide a space for you to promote

what you do and what you need.

Finally, our oft-repeated call for interesting articles for

inclusion in future editions!

Please remember to visit the Roundabout website.

There are often articles there that we could not fit into

the print edition, as well as information that arrives dur-

ing the month:
