Thank you very much to those who have already donated items and money and those who are busy knitting. It is very much
appreciated.
Operation Christmas Child is a worthwhile charity making a difference at Christmas, by giving shoe boxes containing small gifts
to children in poor countries.

Thought for the Month
Dear Friends,
We are well into the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness and without tempting fate the first frosts of winter are no doubt
just around the corner.
Jeremy Corbyn recently spoke of politics as being about everyday peoples lives. The Archbishop of York went a stage further. He
wrote that there is an ‘unambiguous connection between politics and religion’ as he describes Jesus words in Matthew Ch 5
‘blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven’, and ‘blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comfort-
ed’ as his ‘interim manifesto’. Jesus had a particular concern for those who are disadvantaged and who struggle and he expects
his church to reflect this in prayer, in word and in action. So it has been good that as churches and with the school we have
been able to support Godmanchester Foodbank with harvest produce and provide shoe boxes full of toys for disadvantaged
children through Operation Christmas Child.
Those words of Jesus are particularly relevant at this time of year as we approach All Souls and then Remembrance, both occa-
sions when we remember the lost. We would love to see you at one of our special services as these can be sad times for many
and as churches we look to share the hope and the good news of the love and comfort God has for his world particularly those
who mourn.
Best wishes,
Jes
