We had many new starters in the spring term and it was lovely to see

them come back after Easter raring to go, along with our ‘old-timers’!

Usually in the summer term we have fewer festivals and events to

celebrate, but we will be busy ensuring our children who are bound for ‘big school’ in September have the independence

and skills they will need – as well as ensuring they have plenty of fun and a great final term with us at Preschool.

Thank you to everyone who donated for Comic Relief last term, and also to those who bought tickets for our Easter Choco-

late Hamper Raffle, which raised an amazing £46. We would also like to thank St. Mary’s for hosting the children for a

morning visit, when they learned all about how Christians celebrate Easter. They enjoyed listening to a story about the don-

key that carried Jesus into Jerusalem and waving their scarf ‘palm leaves’! They also had an exciting visit from a ‘real sol-

dier’ (!), who put them through their paces during a Circuit Session. Thank you Mr. Soldier – you know who you are!

Our St. Patrick’s Day crafts have been proudly displayed at Preschool and on fridges throughout the village, and the chil-

dren enjoyed making eggs with a chick hiding inside too. But soon there will be new art works to display as we move on to

our summer themes. We wish everyone a sunny and enjoyable May Day and half-term holiday!

THE SPORTS PAGE

"Walking Football”

This is 5-aside football with the one restriction that you cannot

run. It was devised to get the 50+ year old players back on pitches

to relive some of their past glories but in more manageable envi-

ronment. The age limit is not strict but it gives an idea. It also

suits younger players coming back from injury who would benefit

from a lower contact game. There is an existing local group that

plays at Hinchingbrooke School Gym in the winter and Brampton

Memorial Field in the summer. With the clocks changing we are

just moving to the Field.

Time is 18.30-19.30 with a small weekly cost of £3 per ses-

sion. Timing is variable so check before coming. There is an ac-

tive group but with holidays, injuries, work, etc we could do with a

few more players to ensure we get the ideal ten each game. The

existing squad covers a range of shapes fitness and ability which is

part of the fun. It really works for a huge range of people. So far

they are all male (well, they look like it) but the door is open to

all. It beats jogging hands down!

Payment is game by game so no commitment to a season. At

worst you are risking £3 so why not come along and give it a go?
