BUCKDEN WI

Members and 4 visitors enjoyed a

lively and informative evening with

Pat King (and her glamorous assis-

tant Brian) to help us dispel our neg-

ative thoughts about dementia. De-

mentia Friends is an organisation set up to educate

people on how to help those living with dementia. It

can be as simple as just listening, perhaps for the

umpteenth time, and making people feel good about

their time with you or exercising patience in a queue

when someone in front of you appears to be taking for

ever to pay or pack. It was a thoroughly rewarding

evening which, to hear the buzz in the hall, members

really enjoyed.

We drew the ballot for attendance at the 100th Anni-

versary Royal Garden Party and our representative will

be Ruth Nicholas our President. The next meeting on

5th May is ‘The Challenges and Joys of a Head Gar-

dener’ with Richard Todd from the National Trust. The

Competition is for an arrangement of three flowers and

the Market Stall will carry cakes (complete with a list of

ingredients, please, to comply with new laws now in

place).

Enquiries Judith Armitage 01480 811717.

Buckden Village Festival 4th & 5th July

Do you want to advertise your business in the central arena of the fete? It is a great

place for lots of the village to see your name. We will print & display a 0.5x1.5m

banner if you supply the artwork for a sponsorship donation of £50 which will help

contribute to the cost of the marching band for the parade. If you would like to take

up this opportunity please contact us on

BuckdenVillageFestival@gmail.com .

The Youth Committee meetings are happening in the village hall. Even if you didn’t come last time you

are welcome to join us next time. Email

BuckdenVillageFestivalYouth@gmail.com a

nd we will send you

you will agree it is eye-catching and really reflects the spirit of the weekend.
