SCHOOL & PRE-SCHOOL NEWS
BUCKDEN PRE-SCHOOL PLAYGROUP
There have been a few changes since last
month. Sarah Brown our supervisor of eight
years has moved onto new pastures. We take
this opportunity to thank Sarah for all her hard
work over the years and to wish her well in her
new posting.
We would like to welcome Michelle Nelson as
our new Playgroup manager. Michelle joins the
Playgroup on 12
th
January, she brings with her
a wealth of childcare experience and
knowledge, having managed many other set-
tings and achieved ‘Outstanding’ from Ofsted in
one of these settings. All the staff and commit-
tee are looking forward to working with Michelle.
The children have a host of activities lined up
this month, including our annual sponsored
Pancake flip; charity collecting for Comic Relief
with our ‘Red week’ and cake selling and of
course, not forgetting our celebration of the very
important Mothering Day.
This year we are again collecting for Sains-
bury’s Active Kids. Should you have any vouch-
ers we would be very appreciative of these.
Finally a reminder for our next fundraiser: our

BUCKDEN CHURCH OF
ENGLAND SCHOOL
(Primary Academy Trust)
February 2014
Life at Buckden School is continuing through the
very trying wet weather. Luckily it hasn’t
stopped the children using the playground for
playtimes and PE sessions. We have tried to
dodge the showers and continued to enjoy our
outdoor space.
We have continued to have our class assem-
blies with the Westies and Hamsters classes –
Year 2 children – who enjoyed presenting their
assemblies to the school and their parents. We
celebrated Valentines Day with a disco arranged
by the FOBS committee. All the children were
able to attend, and enjoyed dancing and a re-
freshing drink and a bag of crisps. Many of them
also had their faces painted with hearts. Thank
you to the FOBS committee for organising yet
another enjoyable event.
The school is collecting the ‘Active Kids’ vouch-
ers being given out when you shop in Sainsbur-
ys. We are aiming to have a record collection
this year which will enable us to buy sports
equipment for the school. If you do shop in
Sainsburys, please collect the vouchers and
bring them into the school office. All donations
will be gratefully received. Thank you.
