May 2014
This has been a very busy, but short half term. The
children in Years 6 and 2 have been sitting their
SATS tests. They have been very busy in class pre-
paring for the tests and have now completed them.
During this half term we have continued with our
class assemblies – the Blue Toucans, Dolphins and
Junebugs classes have all had their assemblies. We
also had a very special assembly whenWood Green
came along to do a whole school assembly - the
theme was ‘Staying Safe withWoody the Dog’. Dur-
ing the assembly the children were given advice on
how to approach dogs safely. After the assembly the
Blue Toucans and Dolphins classes had a lesson
withMolly themouse, who also came along for a vis-
it, andmade her a home.
Our Year 4 children went on their residential visit to
the Kingswood Centre at Albrighton in Staffordshire.
Theweather could have been kinder but it didn’t stop
them having a busy time, with the children taking part
in a wide variety of activities throughout each day.
These varied from climbing up and down ropes, driv-
ing quad-bikes, caving to archery and taking part in
field games and team challenges. Everyone came
home very tired including the accompanying staff,
Mrs Jaynes, Miss Wilkerson, Miss Lizell and Mrs
Lawson.
Our Year 5 children visited the Safety Zone which is
based at St Neots Fire Station. During their visit the
childrenweregiven advice by local policeofficers and
PCSOs, representatives from the Fire Service, Envi-
ronmental Health, Road SafetyOffices and St John’s
Ambulance officers on personal safety. It was an
informative afternoon for both the children and the
teachers who accompanied them. Following that the
Year 5 and 6 classes had a Viking Day. They came
to school dressed in Viking costume and took part in
a varietyof activities based on living in theViking era.
We have plenty to look forward to after the half term
with our Sports Day, Fathers Day lunch, Year 5/6
play and the end of term assemblies. We are hoping
that the summer brings some good weather for us all
toenjoy these events.
