Volunteering for the Police

Those who attended the Annual Parish Meeting will remember that the police were appealing for more

volunteers. Cambridgeshire Constabulary are particularly looking for volunteers to take the role of Spe-

cial Constable or Police Support Volunteer (PSV) but there are opportunities available across a wide

spectrum of activities. If you think you might be interested in volunteering, please contact:

Thefts of bicycles

The police have also informed us that theft of bicycles is on the increase. Most thefts occur when bicy-

cles are not padlocked and often when they are left in front gardens. Please ensure that your bicycle,

when left unattended, is padlocked to something firm. Police also recommend that bicycles are pad-

locked when left in sheds and garages.

We would like to remind residents that the Parish Council has installed cycle racks on the side of the

butcher’s shop and Costcutter. Bicycles can be secured to these. There is also a cycle rack at the Vil-

lage Hall.

Overhanging hedges and trees

This is the time of year when hedges and trees get rather out of hand. If you have hedges or trees adja-

cent to a pavement, footpath or alleyway, please ensure that they do not obstruct the walkway. Hedges

can now be safely trimmed but we recommend that major work should be delayed until the autumn.
