Falls Prevention Assessments

Everyone Health (part of ChangePoint Lifestyle Services) is

still offering 1-1 appointments for individuals aged 50+ who

may have a fear of falling, have previously had a fall or just

would like to increase their physical activity level. Their

mission is to provide an accessible service that helps reduce

the risk of falls, trips and slips in the community. The team

aims to help each individual to identify and address any risks

before they become a problem by conducting assessments,

as well as prescribing home-based strength and balance

exercise programmes. They are running these assessments

here at the Village Hall so if you would like any further infor-

mation please contact Change Point on 0333 005 0093.

At our November meeting Paul Vick-

ers, a Magician was our speaker on the

“History of Magic”. Paul demonstrated

some magic tricks as he took us

through the history. Paul combined his

magical skills and wit for his entertain-

ing performance, with lots of fun and audience participation.

Paul had us in fits of laughter with his hand cuff tricks, along

with his mastery of cards and the “Cut & Restore” rope trick.

Paul was very good at involving the members and this caused

much laughter and enjoyment, especially his trick with a toy

goose and a pack of cards. Paul passed a poster round with “I

love Paris in the the Springtime” for us all to look at and very

few members noticed that the word the was repeated. As

Paul commented “Do not allow the eye to fool the mind”.

The members enjoyed the evening and commented “he is

excellent, can he come again, I haven’t laughed like this for a

long time”. The atmosphere in the room was happy and re-

laxed and Paul was able to engage the members in an infor-

mal way with his personality.

At the next Meeting Tuesday 4

th

December 7:30pm in the

Millard Suite at the Village Hall it is our fish and chip evening

and also the election of our committee for the coming year.

As you may already know, BJFC won the Charter Standard

Club of the Year Award for the 2017-18 season ('Charter

Standard' is the FA official seal of approval for a correctly-run

club). Also, Stuart Duncan, our U8 Hawks White manager was

runner-up in the Coach of the Year Award. Michael Lander

(Chairman), Bob Crane (Secretary) and Alan Lewey (Child Wel-

fare Officer) attended the awards ceremony on Saturday 13th

October where we received our framed certificate which we

hope to display in Buckden Club (Kevin Stableford, our Chair-

man until the end of last season, was unable to attend).

However, as well as the certificate, detailed below are the

items we have also received for winning the award: £100 kit-

locker voucher (used to purchase pegs and new corner posts),

2 new banners (displayed at the field on the playground

fence), new RESPECT 'A' board (for display on match days), 3

RESPECT hoodies , 10 size 3 footballs , 12 size 4 footballs, 2

size 5 footballs, new set of cones, 8 orange bibs, 8 green bibs.

We will be using the bibs, cones and some of the balls for our

U7-U9 open weekly training session for players who do not

belong to teams.

Finally, a big 'thank you' to those who nominated us for the

awards and to all parents, carers, players, managers, coaches

and Club Committee members for their continued support of

the Club.
