The contractor for the works to install the A1 average speed cameras has sent a notification detailing the the work that will be done over the next few weeks to install the cameras:

Highways Agency: A1 Southoe to Buckden Safety Cameras

On behalf of the Highways Agency and their Agent, CarillionWSP I wish to inform you that we shall shortly be starting overnight Safety Cameras installation works on the A1 between Southoe and Buckden. The works will involve installation of average speed safety cameras with associated office equipment, vehicle safety barrier and new road signs.

The works will commence on the evening of Monday the 17th of February 2014 and will take 4 weeks to complete. The works will be undertaken using overnight lane closures and a 50mph speed restriction. The hours of work will be as follows:

Northbound:

Monday to Thursday  7:00pm to 7:00am

Friday             8:00pm to 9:45am
Saturday          2:00pm to 9:45am
Sunday         2:00pm to 7:00am

Southbound:

Monday to Thursday     7:00pm to  6:00am
Friday              8:00pm to 10:15am
Saturday         2:00pm to 10:15am
Sunday         2:00pm to  0:00am

There will inevitably be some noise and inconvenience generated by the works and for this we apologise in advance.
