Consecration of the extension to the cemetery

A date has been set for the consecration of the new extension to the cemetery. It will be at 3.00pm on Tuesday 2

nd

October

2018. The Bishop of Ely and the Registrar for the diocese will be in attendance along with our vicar, Jes Salt. Members of the

public are invited to attend and there will be light refreshments in the Living Stones Room afterwards.

Planning Matters

Silver Street

Over seventy residents joined members of the Parish Council on Thursday 6

th

September to hear a presentation

from the Church Commissioners on their plans for the proposed housing development to the north of Silver Street. Strong con-

cerns were expressed about the impact that the extra traffic will have not only on the streets of Buckden but the roundabout

and main line Level Crossing. The Council Chairman will attend the examination of the GHDC draft local plan to argue against

this development being included in the plan.

Lucks Lane

A number of residents attended the Parish Council meeting when it considered the developer’s Conditional Design

Code. Numerous objections and comments were agreed and the full BPC recommendation to the HDC is available in the Parish

Clerk’s office.

hopefully will be in office sometime in October. In the mean time we ask for your patience and understanding. If you have an

important matter to discuss or raise please contact the Chairman Terry Hayward on 01480 810974 or

Three new Councillors have been co-opted onto the Council and their details will be available on Council no-

tice boards. Due to a resignation there will be another vacancy to fill in October. If you wish to apply please contact the Chair-

man.

The next Parish Council Meeting will be held at 7.30pm on Tuesday 9

th

October. The meeting includes a 15 minute open forum.

Parishioners are asked to apply in writing in advance outlining what they wish to say to the Chairman by 4

If required the Council Planning Committee will meet on Tuesday 9

th

October and Tuesday 23

Buckden Parish Allotments - Down at the Allotments Oct 2018

The Best Kept Allotment competition has been held, as with last year was voted for by secret ballot by the other allotment hold-

ers. The First Prize went to Mr Facer, with Mr Keable coming a close second, also a big well done to all who keep the allotments

looking so good.

Continuing the development of our new communal area, which is designed to encourage greater use of the allotments as a

place of education, relaxation, and recovery from the stresses of life; we will be purchasing a new low maintenance (made from

recycled plastic from NBB Recycled Furniture) 7/8 seating bench. Anne Furbanks Fashions Ltd has generously agreed to sponsor

this amenity.

With support from Mark Duly, local Steel Fabricators: D J Saywell Ltd, owned by Buckden resident Dawn Saywell , have provid-

ed free of charge, two free standing BBQs for the Communal area. One for disposable BBQs and one for Charcoal which should

be in place by the 30

th

August.

We would like to say a huge thank you to all our local businesses that are continuing to support not only the Allotments but

a whole host of other community projects.

For anyone wishing to take a full size or half size Allotment plot, please contact the Parish Clerk
