VILLAGE NEWS

BUCKDEN WI

Members braved the snow

and cold for our February

meeting in the school. Our

tea ladies made a valiant

effort with a series of ket-

tles when it was not possi-

ble to heat the urn. Thank

you ladies, it was not the night for a refreshing glass

of cold water!

We remembered Betty Fryatt, a past President of

Buckden and an ex-Federation Chairman with a

singing of Jerusalem and a silence. Thank you, Bet-

ty, for your commitment to and love of the WI. Our

speaker was Bob Harding-Jones who gave us an

entertaining view of ‘characters’ he had come across

as a dairy farmer and latterly an ambulance para-

medic. He also offered a remedy for a ‘still at home’

adult child. When reaching the age of 65 point out

that they could be changing their status from ‘lodger’

to ‘carer’ anytime soon. Worked like a charm appar-

ently! The next meeting will be held on 3

rd

March at

7.30 at the school. The speaker will be Frank Burns

who has cycled from Kimbolton to Istanbul along a

pilgrim route.

Enquiries Judith Armitage 01480 811717.
