Parish Council Precept
The Parish Council precept for the coming year April 2014 to Mar 2015 has now been agreed with HDC and we are
pleased to say that there will be a 2.4% reduction in the amount to be paid. For a band D property this means a re-
duction from £67.37 to £65.76 per annum.
Buckden Rights Of Way
The Parish Council continues in its efforts to secure a cycle path/footpath between Buckden and Grafham Water.
The route is on the jointly approved CCC/HDC list of schemes for Rural Cycling priorities in Huntingdonshire. On a
recent list of 30 scheme priorities the route was 8th. Five of those higher have now been approved but the problem
continues to be the availability of funding. If you have any ideas on how we could improve our priority rating please
contact the Parish Clerk or Cllr Terry Hayward (01480 810974).
The Council is also trying to improve the footpath network around the village and is currently talking to the Church
Commissioners about the possibilities of new paths to the north of Perry Road in order to provide better access
through to Brampton Wood.
Superfast Broadband
Further to our article of last month, the Parish Council has received further information from Cambridgeshire County
Council with regards to superfast broadband.
CCC have confirmed that 24 new fibre broadband cabinets have gone live in Cambridgeshire during December
2013 and January 2014 and are accepting orders for superfast broadband in the following areas of Buckden, post
codes PE19 5XL and PE19 5TL.
A map showing the locations of the new live cabinets can be seen on the ‘my area’ pages for each area together
with useful advice on ‘How to get superfast broadband’ on the Connecting Cambridgeshire website,
www.connectringcambridgeshire.co.uk
Speedwatch
As a consequence of concerns about speeding raised by residents, a Speedwatch assessment was carried out in
Greenway on 28 January, for one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon. 74 vehicles were recorded
during that period and none were found to be speeding.
Speed of traffic remains a concern of residents and the Parish Council hopes to carry out an increased number of
Speedwatch assessments during 2014. If there is a particular location that causes you concern and you would like
to have the Speedwatch team attend to log traffic numbers and excess speeds, please contact the Clerk to the Par-
ish Council at the address below.
Any questions or comments on this report can be addressed to the Parish Clerk John Chase, Clerk to Buckden Par-
ish Council, Buckden Village Hall, Burberry Road, Buckden PE19 5UY, Telephone (01480) 819407, Email
