Happy New Year to all the residents of Buckden
It is important to make sure that you remain alert for suspicious activity in the area. Although I have no dwelling burglaries to
report for Buckden, it has not been the case in other villages in our area. We have had several burglaries of which a lot have
been carried out in broad daylight, these could be opportunistic burglaries or scouted weeks before, so please call in any suspi-
cious activity. Remember if it doesn’t look quite right to you then it probably isn’t.
Winter is upon us and although we are hoping it will be a mild winter the chances are we will experience some cold snaps, if this
is the case please keep an eye on your neighbours, if they are elderly, vulnerable or live alone, just make sure they are warm
enough and keeping themselves fed. If we receive snow or icy conditions it is not always possible for some residents to get
shopping and provisions.
Crime Report
We have had a stolen motor vehicle in Buckden, which has been stolen from the owner’s driveway. At the time of writing that is
the only notable crime to report, ASB levels are still low which is a good sign.
Although I do patrol the village on a regular basis both day and night, I am not always visible to all, so please if you need to con-
tact me or have any issues that you would like to talk about concerning your personal safety or in the village of Buckden, then I
would be happy to hear from you. You can contact me on the details at the bottom of this report.
Please keep safe and remember to report any suspicious activity on 101.

Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal 2017
I would like to say a very big THANK YOU to everyone who
contributed to the Shoebox Appeal as
260
shoeboxes were
collected.
This means that some children in poor countries will have a
happier Christmas, as they will receive a shoebox. That in
effect is a smile on a child’s face, so thank you all again for
making this possible. It is a wonderful achievement by every-
one.

A request from Buckden Preschool
Can we please ask that if you are coming to Preschool for any
reason, you access the setting by using the Millennium Cen-
tre
’
s side doors
–
while we are in session, there is a clearly
visible large sign outside these side doors and this is the only
entrance that should be used. Please do not attempt to access
Preschool via the balcony of the Social Club. Can we also re-
mind people that even if you know a preschool child, it
’
s not
appropriate to offer them anything through the railings etc
and that for the children
’
s safety, dogs shouldn
’
t be brought
to the railings for the children to stroke.
