New Year Greetings
Councillors and staff of Buckden Parish Council would like to wish all residents of Buckden, Stirtloe and
Diddington a very happy and healthy New Year.
New Year, new activity……..
How about being a Parish Councillor?
Have you made any new year’s resolutions yet? Would you like to get more involved in decisions about
your community during 2017? We have one vacancy on Buckden Parish Council and would be delight-
ed to welcome a new member. We would be particularly pleased to have a resident of Diddington on the
council. If you would like to know a little more about the role, contact the Chairman, Fiona Shirley on
01480 811703 or the Clerk at the address below.
…………….
or growing you own food?
Have you ever fancied growing your own fruit and vegetables? is your garden too small for all the pro-
duce that you want to grow? Do you want to keep fit and get plenty of fresh air? How about taking on an
allotment? We currently have a few vacancies and would welcome applications. Again, if you are inter-
ested, please contact the Clerk.
................
or using Buckden library?
There are, of course, great financial pressures on Cambridgeshire County Council and libraries, in par-
ticular, may be subject to cuts during the next few years. The best way for us to keep our wonderful
community library is for as many people to use it at possible. So, please, visit the library which is in the
Village Hall and help to safeguard its future.
Bus Passes
Bus passes can now be renewed on line up to six weeks before they are due to expire. If you don’t have
access to a computer at home, the libraries in Huntingdon, St Neots or Buckden will be able to help you
with your application. Details of what you need to bring with you to make an application can also be
found in Buckden library.
Bus Service No 65, Buckden - The Offords - St Neots
We are drawing your attention to this underused bus service that is NOT a Dial-A-Ride Service.
It runs from Buckden Surgery via The Offords and Great Paxton to St Neots. Some people in the village
find it very convenient as it leaves at 9.45 a.m. and returns at 10.25 or 12.14 p.m. Unfortunately, not
many people are using it and we have been asked to publicise it in the hope that more people will use it.
Further details of the service can be obtained either from the Parish Clerk or the information board at
the bus stops in the village.
Defibrillator
Many thanks to Buckden Junior Football Club and the Village Club for raising money towards the cost of
the defibrillator which is to be sited at the front of the Village Hall.
Any questions or comments on this report can be addressed to the Parish Clerk John Chase, Clerk to
