BUCKDEN NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH

CAR SECURITY

Car security has improved greatly in recent years. Long gone are the days when thieves were able to easily “hot

wire” a vehicle in order to steal it. These days, offenders are seeking to steal cars by burgling houses with the spe-

cific intention of stealing keys. There have been a number of instances recently where residents have been targeted

in this way. It is important to remain vigilant during the day be on the lookout for any unusual people or people in

vehicles paying attention to the driveway of a house where a desirable car is parked. Owners of high value desirable

cars are advised to take extra precautions.

Never leave car or other keys in open view of your letterbox or ground floor windows. If you have a garage always

make sure the car is parked in it overnight. Invest in a tracking device - if your car is stolen there is a much better

chance of it being traced. Report suspicious activity or interest in high value cars to the police.

BUCKDEN VILLAGE FESTIVAL

A big ‘Thank You’ to everyone who helped at the Buckden Village Festival this year, whether it be organising in advance, selling

raffle tickets, setting up on the day, running a stall or providing tables & chairs. All the help makes it much easier, and I even

managed to enjoy some of it myself this year, including the giant slide – if you missed it we have already booked it for next

year! From what people have said to me I think a lot of fun was had and we also raised well over £2,500 towards safety fencing

renewal to separate cricket balls, footballs and the children’s play area. Thank you also to our raffle donors (see following list);

the raffle forms a significant part of the fund raising. Most prizes have now been distributed but winning numbers are also

shown in case you thought you won something.

We are already taking bookings for next year which is on Saturday 7

th

July 2018. As ever we would be pleased to hear any feed-

back (or offers of help for next year) on

BuckdenVillageFestival@gmail.com.
