The cover photo this month was provided by Robert Wain,
and was taken just outside the village. As ever, we are very
grateful.
We are always looking for photos, images, drawings and
paintings to use on the front cover so please keep sending
them in. Please note that photos should ideally be in portrait
format and should be a
minimum
of 2400 x 1700 pixels.

This month sees the publication of the winning entry in our Writing Competition. The theme was “Journey”. Our
judge considered plot, character, theme, description and interest in reaching a conclusion. The winning entry, by
Gayle Olsen, can be found on page 9. We plan to publish more of the entries in future editions, as space permits.
See the article on page 20 about the level crossing at Offord - we are collecting experiences and photos of conges-
tion, in support of the campaign to replace it with something safer and more convenient.
Since our last edition, we have had two wonderful and enjoyable events in Buckden, the Village Festival and Buck-
fest, the latter just as we go to press. You can find some photos from these events on pages 13 and 14. We thank the
organisers of these events, who dedicate many hours to their success.
Buckden Gardeners Association Autumn Show will be held on Thursday 9th September, and a schedule of showing
classes and an entry form can be found on pages 15 and 16. Why not have a go this year?
