“NEWS”: LAUNCH OF
ST MARY’S RESTORATION APPEAL
The church of St Mary’s Buckden is a wonderful asset to the
whole community. It is a beautiful building with a history da-
ting back to the Domesday Book. As the Parish Church, it is
the venue for local weddings, baptisms and funerals and for
whole-village services at Remembrance, Easter and Christ-
mas. In addition to Sunday services, the church plays host to
cafes, yoga classes. meetings, prayer groups and forums,
primary school/nursery/playgroup visits and other children’s
activities, concerts, occasional art exhibitions and fetes, chil-
dren’s activities. The church is open every day for use by
anyone.
This beautiful building is in need of urgent repairs to parts of
the roof, to the stonework and to the outer walls of the vestry
to keep it both watertight and safe for visitors. Inevitably the
costs of such repairs are not small.
On Saturday 10
th
September (National Heritage Weekend)
we launched our restoration appeal. We will be running
various fund-raising activities alongside applying for grants
and need to raise around £100,000 in total. This church be-
longs to the whole community and we are asking for your
help to keep it in good condition.
So please give in any way that you can, whether by giving a
donation

Church-Restoration-Appeal
, supporting our fund-raising
events, organising a fund-raising event yourself, booking the
LSR which can be hired, using easyfundraising when you
