The next Buckden Parish Council Meeting will be held at 7.30pm on Tuesday 11
th
September. The meeting includes
a 15 minutes open forum. Parishioners are asked to apply in writing in advance outlining what they wish to say to
the clerk by the 6
th
September for a three minute slot during the Open Forum
If required the Parish Council Planning Committee will meet on Tuesday 11
th
September and Tuesday 25th Sep-
tember at 7.00pm. Agendas for these meetings are posted on the Parish Council notice boards not later than the
Saturday preceding the meeting.

Planning Matters
Over 200 members of the public attended the meeting of the Council on Tuesday 14
th
August to hear the Council
consider the Outline application for a new housing estate to the north of Mill Road.
The Council agreed the following resolution:
Buckden Parish Council strongly recommends
that the OUTLINE appli-
cation for a housing development to the north of Mill Road, Buckden be REFUSED and that no further large hous-
ing developments in the village be considered until:
•
The effects of the Lucks Lane development are clear, and
•
There are agreed published plans in course of implementation for the future improvement to the A1, and
•
There are agreed published plans in course of implementation for the future improvement to the main line
level crossing.
Silver Street Proposed Development:
The Council has arranged a Public Meeting in the Village Hall at 7.00pm on
Thursday 6
th
September for the Church Commissioners and their agents to present their ideas for the proposed de-
velopment on Silver Street.
Lucks Lane Development
The Council will consider the conditional information supplied for this development at its
meeting at 7.30pm on Tuesday 11
th
September.
A1 and Main Line Level Crossing
The Council has been informed that there are no plans to upgrade the A1 or to improve the Level Crossing in the
near future. The Council has written to our MP, the Secretary of State for Transport and the CEO Network Rail
pointing out how urgently these improvements are needed. We shall continue to press them and HDC and CCC for
support. We understand that Jonathan DJanogly is planning to discuss these urgent matters with all other MPs along
the A1 from the M25 to Peterborough.
Village Trees
The Parish Council commissions a survey of all of its trees every five years. At its meeting on 14
th
August the Council
agreed to employ Hayden’s Arboricultural Consultants to complete the Health and Safety survey this year. All Coun-
cil trees will be labelled with small tags to ensure that when there are any issues the tree can be easily identified.
