Front Cover
The front cover this month is a photograph provided by An-
drew Millen. As ever, we are very grateful.
We are looking for more paintings of any kind that could use
as a front cover. We can photograph them if you only have
original artwork. We are also keen to get images (photos or
paintings) of the village and surrounding areas in preparation
for future issues. Please note that images should ideally be in
portrait format and should be a
minimum
of 2400 x 1700 pix-
els. More is better!

November 2019
Well autumn is definitely here - as I write we have had a lot of
rain, although there have been occasional sunny spells too.
Trees are turning. Many people love the rich autumn colours,
and I’d encourage readers to make the most of Buckden’s
fabulous footpath network round the village. The villages and
hamlets served by the Roundabout - Buckden, Stirtloe and
Diddington are connected by footpaths that are well worth
exploring. The footpath beyond Diddington connects with
Paxton Pits Nature Reserve.
Please note that the copy deadline in December is earlier than
other months, and it is close of business on
6th December
, so
that we can distribute the January edition before Christmas.
January 2020 sees the 80th anniversary of the start of food
rationing in the UK which began in January 1940. Rationing
did not end until July 1954 - a period of nearly 15 years, a de-
gree of austerity that is almost unimaginable today. We hope
to run an article on food rationing. If you remember rationing,
particularly in Buckden, or have a ration book tucked away, do
please get in touch as we’d like to include personal memories.
We are always looking for articles with a focus on Buckden. If
there is any aspect of Buckden and its history that you have
personally experienced or that you have researched, please
consider writing something for us. Contact the editor at
edi-
tor@buckdenroundabout.info
if you want to discuss a idea,
or explore the length and format that we can use.
Please remember to visit the Roundabout website. There are
often articles there that we could not fit into the print edition,
as well as information that arrives during the month:
