As I write, we are preparing for Halloween, but when
this appears Christmas will be looming! Our advert is
below for our Christmas Fayre and Santa’s Breakfast
(N.B: it’s a morning event this time), so please put it in
your diary. As usual, we will also have a stall at the
Christmas Lights event on the 29th November, so
please come along and say hello.
In preschool, thanks to the skills of the lovely Pete
Carter (Miss Denise’s husband), we now have a won-
derful wooden mud kitchen on the balcony and the chil-
dren are loving the opportunity to stir and ‘cook’ their
concoctions outside. The online learning journals are
also proving a huge success and it’s been great to see
parents and carers adding their own observations and
comments.
Finally, huge thanks to everyone who supported or or-
ganised our ‘little’ Treasure Hunt, which raised an
amazing £449 - not so little after all! The children had a
great time and 10% of the funds will be donated to Mac-
millan Cancer Support.
Please visit www.buckdenpreschool.co.uk for more in-
formation and ring us on 07941 671999 to book a visit

BUCKDEN CHURCH OF
ENGLAND SCHOOL
(Primary Academy Trust)
October 2015
It doesn’t seem possible that we are now approaching
October half term. We had a busy time at school with a
variety of events taking place. All of the children have
all settled into their new classes and routines very quick-
ly and happily.
We had just had our Harvest Service at St Marys
Church. It is the first service of the school year at the
church, and the first visit to church by our Reception
children for a school assembly. The children brought
gifts of tinned food which has been donated to St Neots
Community Foodbank. Thank you to our parents for
their generous donations. Our Reception classes have
visited the library. Thank you to the library staff for
making us so welcome. Our Year 5 and 6 children at-
tended Ely Cathedral for the Church Schools Day along
with many other church schools from the Ely diocese.
We had a very busy day taking part in a number of
workshops and activities ending with a service before
we came home. On the last week before half term our
Year 6 children had a very busy week. Some of them
visited Normandy, France on a residential visit. Whilst
in France they visited the World War 1 battlefields, the
towns of Rouen and Dieppe and visited a chocolate fac-
tory, a cheese and farm and a cider factory. Everyone
had a lovely time. The remainder of Year 6 had a
French themed week. The week started with a Living
History day when visitors to the school to talk about
World War 1. The followed this up with a visit to the
Imperial War Museum in London. It was a long day, but
the museum was well worth the visit.
The work replacing the school roof is expected to be
finished in early November. We are now looking for-
ward to the winter without leaking roofs.
