POETRY CORNER

Welcome once again to Poetry Corner. The Roundabout is looking for submissions of poems of no more than 30 lines from all

and every resident of Buckden. We would especially like the school children to participate. So get writing those masterpieces

and send them to the Editor. This month, Ken Bushell has written the poem ‘Buckden’.

Village of contrasts

Quiet bridle paths

A1 Roundabout Maelstrom

Pretty thatched cottages

Stately Georgian and Victorian homes

Modern estate dwellings

Narrow streets built over footpaths

And cart tracks of yesteryear

St. Mary’s, Buckden Towers

Historic church and buildings with royal connections

The Lion, The Vine, The George

Hostelries all at sometime

City folk, business people, entrepreneurs

Money no object

Young families, almshouse pensioners

Striving to make ends meet

Farms, shops, small businesses

Family living close by

Love living in Buckden

A fitting place to spend your ‘Golden Years’.
