In the last month, the children have really enjoyed
our Hungry Caterpillar theme. It’s a great story that
lends itself to many learning areas of the Early Years
Foundation Stage. We have looked at healthy and
unhealthy food, days of the week, counting and add-
ing, and the butterfly lifecycle. The children have also
enjoyed caterpillar crafts and making their name from
letter caterpillar segments. They are now busy mak-
ing red, white and blue bunting and beautiful crowns
for our Queen’s-birthday-themed Teddy Bear’s Picnic
- and looking forward to our small animal visit, an end
-of-year treat!
Now it’s time for a year’s worth of thanks: firstly, to
everyone who came to our Old School Jams disco,
which raised £174.41. We hope you had a great
time! Thanks also to everyone who has supported us
this year, including Pauline Coker for her music and
movement sessions; Costcutter for their generous
snack donation and hosting of collection boxes; Sam-
my Deane-Piper for raising an amazing £481.97 for
us with her sponsored weight-loss; Jo Harvey, Man-
ager of the Millennium Centre, for her constant help
and support; and everyone who has donated Sains-
bury’s active kids vouchers, which we plan to spend
on a sit-on scuttlebug scooter and new footballs.
There’s still time to donate, as the box will be at
Costcutter until 04/07/16.
Last but not least, the staff would also like to thank all
present and ex-committee members for their enthusi-
asm, commitment and support. We couldn’t do it
without you!
Along with the thank yous, the goodbyes - to the chil-
dren leaving us for big school and their families,
some of whom we’ve known for many years. We
wish them all the very best for the future.
Finally, a reminder that as usual, we will have a stall
at the Village Fayre on 2
nd
July and Buckfest on

BUCKDEN CHURCH OF
ENGLAND SCHOOL
(Primary Academy Trust)
June2016
June has been a busy month for the pupils at the
school. We began this half term by performing in the
‘Buckden Showcase’. This involved all pupils at the
school performing at a show staged at Hinchingbrooke
School PAC. It gave the children an opportunity to
showcase what they had learnt in performing arts
throughout the school year, in a theatre setting. All the
children have all been busy rehearsing for weeks – each
year group performed their own songs and dances and
the whole school performed a medley of songs. The
event was watched by over 450 of our parents, relations
and friends. We would like to thank parents for provid-
ing costumes and props and the staff for their hard work
in writing, producing, stage managing and directing the
event. It really was a day to remember.
Our Year 3 children visited the Museums of Archaeology
& Anthropology and of Classical Archaeology in Cam-
bridge. This visit was to complement their topic work
based on ancient civilisations. It was a very busy and
interesting day.
We hope you have all noticed the scarecrows popping
up around the village for a competition organised by our
PTA. Thank you to everyone who took part in the com-
petition. The winner will be announced in next months
issue of The Roundabout.
As we go into July we are busy preparing for our annual
sports day, end of year production for Year 5 and 6 and
our end of year celebration assemblies. Look out for
news of these events next month.

Buckden Roundabout Team
New Commercial Manager needed
Do you have a few hours to spare each month? Would
you like to join the friendly Roundabout team?
The Roundabout team needs a new commercial man-
ager. This involves communicating with existing and
new advertisers, booking advertising space and raising
invoices. It is an essential role as, without the income
from the advertisements, the Roundabout could not
function. A knowledge of spread sheets would be an
advantage.
If you are interested, please e-mail the Editor at the ad-
dress on page 3.
