Review of 'Oh Dear Silvia' by Dawn French
A book which awakens the readers emotions from much humour to tears.
The main character, Silvia Shute is unresponsive, lying in a hospital bed in a coma. The story unfolds
through all the various characters that visit her hospital bed; a caring and funny Nurse, her rejected
children, ex husband, sister and even her cleaning lady who keeps her up to date with current gossip
from her magazines. Be aware that phonetic spelling is used for some character dialogue which al-
though very amusing can make intense reading. The reader needs to keep up with the various char-
acters so not a book you can put down for long.
We rate this book as a 4 out of 5.
