The Neighbourhood Plan The Plan has been completed and has been submitted to Huntingdon District Council for further consultation. You can view the final version on the web site at Buck- den - Neighbourhood - Plan - Final - Submission - 30th - Jun - 2020. Once the consultation is complete an Inspector will be appointed to review our plan. Planning The proposed developments at Silver Street and Mill Road remain on hold until end August. The major issue stopping the progress of these developments is the amount of traffic generated and the traffic congestion that will be experienced in the village particularly along the High Street and Church Road. We also have con- cerns about the impact on queueing at the Offord ’ s Crossing. Meeting with Highways England Councillors together with the Chairs of Southoe, Offord and Brampton Councils, and our District and County Councillors met with Highways England on 28 th July to understand the latest proposals for traffic management in the village. A further set of proposals for the roundabout, produced by the Church Commissioners traffic consultants, were presented. Highways England and the Council do not believe these proposals are safe and it remains unclear how they will reduce the potential congestion in the village created by the develop- ments. BPC have made a number of comments about the proposed solution and continue to push for a bypass of the village. Further information is available on the web site. We also raised several other issues with Highways in- cluding: • The very poor state of the A1 Underpasses • The lack of white lines on the roundabout, and • That the foot/cycle paths along the A1 south are overgrown and subject to flooding. Traffic Calming Improvements Although funding has been approved for improvements in both Perry Road and Mill Road, the implementation of both schemes has been delayed due to COVID 19. We will keep you informed of progress. Council Meetings The next Council meeting will be at 7.30pm on Tuesday 8 th September. The meeting will include a 15 - minute open forum.
