The front cover this month is a view of St Mary’s Church and
the Towers taken form the Knot Garden on Open Gardens
Sunday. It was taken by Janine Johnson visiting from Cocker-
mouth, Cumbria and provided by her cousin, Sandra Bowden.
We are looking for more paintings of any kind that could use
as a front cover. We can photograph them if you only have
original artwork. We are also keen to get images (photos or
paintings) of the village and surrounding areas in preparation
for future issues. Please note that images should ideally be in
portrait format and should be a
minimum
of 2400 x 1700 pix-
els. More is better!

July 2019
My calendar tells me that it is mid-June and that summer is
here. However, looking out the window whilst writing this
paints a very different, and far soggier, picture
Despite that, I am sure that the annual events that take place
in the village every July will still be fantastic days, and as well-
attended and enjoyed as much as they always are.
Firstly, starting on Friday 5th July with a quiz in the Village
Hall, we have the Village Festival. On the Saturday, the playing
fields become host to a variety of rides, attractions and stalls -
many run by local organisations raising both funds and aware-
ness. This is a great afternoon for all the family, so make sure
you get down and take part whatever the weather! This year
there is a 5-a-side tournament as well. The weekend con-
cludes with a service in the village hall organised by Buckden
& District Churches Together.
A fortnight after that, on Saturday July 20th, is the 10th edi-
tion of Buckfest! From relatively humble beginnings with a
couple of bands inside Buckden Village Club, through the first
outdoor event in 2013 to where we are now; 21 bands, 3 stag-
es, arena entertainment and a myriad of food and drink op-
tions! Unfortunately, if don’t have a ticket then you are going
to miss out, although there may be still be opportunities for
volunteers.
For a relatively small village, we are very luck to have people
willing to give their time and energy to organising 2 fantastic
events!
Please remember to visit the Roundabout website. There are
often articles there that we could not fit into the print edition,
as well as information that arrives during the month:
