Buckden Roundabout

July 2018

Sports

Buckden Tennis Club

With the arrival of the sunshine and longer days the tennis club at Buckden has come to life again. The courts are located be-

hind the village hall, next to the playing fields. We welcome people of all ages and abilities, whether you are an experienced

player, want to get back into tennis or just fancy taking up the game!

Our 4 all-weather hard-courts are open 7 days a week, all year round, with floodlighting to county standard. We have lots of

club tournaments throughout the summer, with the first opportunity to win silverware at the Maurice Pepper Mixed Doubles

on 9

th

June. We also have mens, ladies and mixed teams competing in Hunts & Peterborough and Cambridgeshire Summer

Leagues. We're always looking for new team members so please let us know if you're interested in joining us.

Social Play is a great way to meet up with other members and takes place on Saturdays and Sundays mornings and Wednesday

evenings. All members are welcome – no one is left out. The courts are free to members to use at other times if they wish to

arrange their own games.

For those looking to brush up their skills or learn new techniques, LTA licensed coaching is available for adults and juniors

through Over and In. Please contact our coach Matt Sanders (matt@overandin.com). Coaching is available on 1:1 basis & group

sessions can also be arranged.

For more information about the club contact our Chairman Clare Fraser on 07740456972, or

visit our website at www.buckdentennis.org.uk, or our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/buckdentennisclub

BUCKDEN JUNIOR FOOTBALL CLUB

The season finished on 26 May, thus no more matches until September, aside from tournament participation

Buckden U8 Raptors White Win Fair-Play Award

When managers/coaches complete their statistics after each match (U7 to U10 only) they are required to enter a fair-play mark

to the opposing team. The Raptors Whites have scooped the Fair-Play award for the whole Hunts Mini-Soccer U8 League for

the 2017-18 season.

Weekly Training Sessions For U7s-U11s Who Are Not In A Team

Next season (starting in September) BJFC is hoping to start up a weekly training session on a weekday evening for all children

from U7 to U11 who wish to play football but are not registered with a team. We get quite a few parents asking whether their

child can join a certain age group but most of our teams are well subscribed and therefore cannot take on any new players,

even just for training. However a weekly training session dedicated to these potential players might be just the ticket, even if

they have never been involved in a team or even trained as a group before. This would be a great opportunity to train without

the commitment that being on a team requires, whilst it can also be a great stepping stone for any players who then wish to

join one our teams when places become available as squad sizes increase every 2 years and some players leave.

There would be no commitment on the part of the players or parents/carers, just a weekly fee of £3 to help cover the cost of

equipment and running of the club day to day.

However, we would need a couple of volunteers to run this enter-

prise

(qualification courses would be paid for by Buckden JFC)

.

If you are interested in doing so, please contact:
