As I write, no - one is certain how things will develop, but as the wise suggest: “ Don ’ t worry about things you can ’ t control ”. Here is the Janu- ary edition of the Roundabout to help you through the dark winter days. Terry Hayward ’ s engaging and fascinating history of the Parish Council reached its completion this month on page 18 with a review of the successes of the Council and an explanation of the duties and responsibilities of a councillor. He ends with a plea for people to consider contributing to the life of our vil- lage in this way—think about it. Mark Ward, our regular wildlife contributor returns on page 10 with one of his occasional pieces about Wildlife in Buck- den. In this month ’ s article, he introduces the many winter visitors—birds that use Buckden and the surrounding areas as a refuge from colder climes. I am inspired to go out and see how many of these migrant species I can spot, and perhaps photograph. Why don ’ t you do the same? We welcome a piece from our recently elected county coun- cillor, Ken Billington, and we look forward to future updates from him. Have you ever had your address confused with that other Buckden village in North Yorkshire? Richard Storey visits ‘ the other Buckden ’, and finds out what makes our namesake vil- lage different from ours. He also finds some parallels between the two Buckdens. Check out his story on page 15. The editorial staff wish all our readers, and everyone who contributes to making the magazine a success, our volunteer distributors, our contributors and our advertisers, a very hap- py New Year. Please remember to visit the Roundabout website. As well as every edition from 2013 onwards available to see, there are often articles there that we could not fit into the print edition, as well as information that arrives during the month.
