You can automatically find out what ’ s going on by subscribing to our Newsletter service using your email address. Parish Council Meetings All Parish Council, Planning and Advisory Group meetings will be online only for the moment. If you wish to attend an online meeting you will find instructions on the web site. Flooding The village was subject to severe flooding on Wednesday 23rd December. This resulted in a number of residents having to leave their homes. In addition, the exit from the village via the level crossing was closed. The Parish Council wishes to thank all those residents who rallied round to help those in need including our Handymen who came in to work on Christmas Eve to help with clearing the roads which were affected. Thank you too to our Clerk who came to the village to support the work. There were many different issues encountered and there is a lot to learn about how best to handle this type of incident. The Parish Council and the Village Hall Trust are working with Huntingdon District Council (HDC) to produce an emergency plan which will be issued to all villagers. This will make it very clear what to do and who to contact should there be a repeat of this issue or a different type of emergency. Surface Water Flooding There have been an increasing number of instances of surface water flooding due to blocked drains and water bubbling up from drains. Please make sure you report these, with photo- graphs if possible. There is a very helpful document on the BPC web site which shows who to report to, and how. Silver Street Development/Buckden Roundabout The Council have appointed an independent traffic consultant to undertake a safety audit of the proposals for the rounda- bout. His initial view is to confirm our view that there are a number of risks associated with the proposal. We are meeting HDC, Cambridgeshire County Council and Highways England on 25 th January to discuss these issues and will provide an update on the web site after this meeting. Dog Litter We are receiving a very high number of complaints about dog fouling. There are dog litter bins around the village. There is no excuse for not clearing up after your dog. Consultation on Luton Airport flight paths We are continuing to demonstrate our opposition to the LLA and NATS Airspace Change Proposal. The Council have sent our objections to HDC. We will also be reg- istering our objections to the LLA by 5th February 2021 work- ing with the Perry group ALAS (Against Luton Airport Stack) and other councils. We strongly recommend that you object to this proposal. Further information can be found on pages 2 and 27. Further details are on the web site at: https:// buckdenpc.org.uk/consultation - on - luton - airport - flight - paths - information - from - hdc/ . Neighbourhood Plan The Plan was approved by HDC Cabinet on 10 th December. Due to COVID the plan cannot be put to referendum in the village until May at the earliest. However, it will have immedi- ate influence in determining planning applications. In the first instance we have reviewed the Silver Street development against the Plan Policies, and in many instances it does not comply. We have forwarded this analysis to HDC, Cambridge- shire County Council and Highways England. Buckden to Brampton Cycle Path We are seeking funding from HDC for the extension of this cycleway from the A14 cycleway into Brampton including pro- vision of a safer crossing over Buckden Road by use of a Cen- tral Island. Council Meetings The next Council meeting will be at 7.30pm on Tuesday 9th February. The meeting will include a 15 - minute open forum. If you want to speak at the meeting, please let us know what you want to say, by contacting the Parish Clerk. You will get a three - minute slot. This meeting will be an on - line only meeting.
