More shops are closed, greater re- strictions on movements and with most schools closed. We are rapidly approaching the one - year anniversary of the initial lockdown, and it is concerning to see that such extreme measures are still required. Hopefully this is the final leg of lockdowns and we start to see more freedoms as we move into spring and summer. One piece of good news is that COVID - 19 vaccinations are now being widely administered, with the local surgery making plans for the first appointments as I write this (See page 6). Stocks arrive in mid - January, and I know that the surgery and it ’ s partners will work hard to ensure the priority groups are vaccinated as soon as possible, providing protection for our older readers, key - workers and other vulnerable adults. To help pass the time in lockdown, we have several inter- esting articles for your reading pleasure this month: • The repairs to the Outer Gatehouse at Buckden Tow- ers, starting on page 13 • “ Splashers and Bunchers ” about radio beacons in World War 2, starting on page 11 • “ Before Parish Councils ” on page 18 Also, don ’ t forget to look at ‘ What can you see? ” on page 16 for an activity whilst on a lockdown walk! Please remember to visit the Roundabout website. As well as every edition from 2013 onwards available to see, there are often articles there that we could not fit into the print edition, as well as information that arrives during the month: www.buckdenroundabout.info This month ’ s editor - Ian Carter Editor ’ s Page
