16 Buckden Roundabout November 2024 Village News Thank You Mr Duly & Son: Rick Screaton, Group Scout Leader Many of the villagers will be aware that on Tuesday 27 August 2024 some thieves attempted to break in to the Scout Hut on Lucks Lane. Fortunately, they were unsuccessful having been thwarted by the Scout Hut Security Door. Unfortunately, their attempt to break in damaged the door such that it could no long- er be opened and there was no access into the Scout Hut. Not only inconvenient, this was an absolute disaster as the Leaders and Volunteers of the Scout Group were about to prepare for the forthcoming Annual Beer & Gin Fundraising Festival! Access to the Scout Hut was need- ed urgently. Thankfully Mark Duly (Carpentry & Building Ser- vices) and his son Andrew came to the rescue. A former Scout Leader himself, Mark quickly managed to give us access and drew upon his supply chain relationships to get us a new secu- rity door in double quick time. Mark and Andrew worked tire- lessly after hours to fit the new door all while preparations for the Beer & Gin festival went on around them. The new door was fitted perfectly and in time for the festival to go ahead that weekend. A big thank you to Mark and Andrew for com- ing to our rescue. Not all heroes wear capes!
