6 Buckden Roundabout November 2023 St Hugh ’ s, Methodist & Baptist Churches Roman Catholic Parish of St Hugh of Lincoln, High Street, Buckden Telephone: 01480 810344 The Catholic Parish of St Hugh of Lincoln is located at Buckden Towers which is also the home of the Claret Centre, a retreat and conference Centre that is also in the pastoral care of the Claretian Missionaries. The Parish Priest and Director of the Claret Centre is Fr Paul Smyth CMF. Assisting him are Fr Jude Arinze CMF and Fr Jim Kennedy CMF Presently the service times are: Saturday Vigil Mass 6:00 pm. A quiet Mass with a few hymns. Sunday Masses: 8:00 am, A quiet start to the day with no singing or music 10:00 am. A Family Mass with a children ’ s liturgy each Sunday during term time. Weekdays Masses: Monday to Friday at 9:30 am Confession available each Saturday 5.15pm - 5:45pm or by appointment Ongoing activities taking place at Buckden Towers • Thursday evenings during term time, the village Youth Group meets from 7 to 8pm. • Collection of supplies for local foodbank. • Tuesday morning: Volunteer Gardeners meet to look after the grounds. • Meeting of Ukrainian refugees • The Claretian Community has morning prayer at 8am each morning and evening Prayer at 5.45pm in the Clar- et Chapel situated in the Under Croft, at the back of the church buildings. Anyone who wishes to join them is most welcome. For more information about any of the activities please call. Fr Paul has recently arrived at Buckden and is in the process of reviewing the activities and timetable for services. He is aware that website information about Buckden Towers and the Par- ish, desperately needs attention and is looking at updating material. As part of this process, he would be interested in gathering information from local people to help him have a broader understanding of local people ’ s experience and knowledge of the Towers.
